| The Advocate news magazine recently featured Out in Alaska in an article about eco-tourism titled, "Eco-Homo" by travel writer Adam Graham. Adam joined us for a spectacular wilderness sea kayaking trip to Kenai Fjords National Park in July 2008. The Advocate story included several beautiful photos taken by Out in Alaska guide Tim Stallard on this adventure. The author lamented the lack of hot water and iPhone access, but these modern comforts are available on our less remote and hotel-based adventures. |

With Sarah Palin selected as John McCain's Vice Presidential running mate there is lots of interest and press about Alaska. In this front page story from the Mat-Su (Wasilla area) Frontiersman, Out in Alaska's Tim Stallard adds his support to a plan to send gay books such as "Heather has Two Mommies" to the Wasilla Public Library |

Gay in Wasilla - Views from the Last Frontier - in this Advocate online story, Tim Stallard and other LGBT Alaskans describe gay life in Wasilla and Alaska in general. If you have been on a tour with Tim, you may have heard him refer to Wasilla's 20 miles of strip malls as the "arm pit of Alaska." Wasilla sits near Anchorage on the way to Denali - when transporting a tour group Tim always hopes the guests will sleep through ugly Wasilla. However, on a recent September 2008 tour the guests were all so excited to see and experience Wasilla in all its glory. |

Our guests are very curious about Alaska in the winter and often ask what their guide Tim Stallard does during the winter. In addition to offering winter tours, he works several odd jobs including organizing cross country ski races, grooming ski trails, and organizing a local reading program. Tim was recently featured in the Fairbanks Daily News Miner for his job coordinating the Guys Read program for 550 local fourth grade boys. Click here for the story

| Highlights from our recent Out in AlaskaAdventures |
|
We visited some amazing places this past year. We saw bears (close, but not too close!) in the wild, sea kayaked past glaciers, rafted wild rivers, relaxed in scenic hot springs, ate lots of fresh seafood, flew over Mt. McKinley, and much more. Many of our guests this summer arrived excited about their "one big trip to Alaska"; they left dreaming and contemplating their next Alaskan adventure!
A highlight of 2006 and 2007 was hosting the women of Olivia on a Post-cruise land tour!
In June 2006, Out in Alaska founder and lead wilderness guide, Tim Stallard was honored with a listing on Out magazine's famous "Hot List". Appropriately, Paris Hilton was on the magazine's cover giving her endorsement that Out in Alaska's wild adventures are "Hot." Click here to see Tim's listing on OUT's 'Hot List'

| Some other Out in Alaska moments to remember |
|
In the summer of 2005, we took a 100-mile rafting trip on the Copper River, famous for its red salmon, with gay comedian Bob Smith. This powerful river cuts through the rugged Chugach Mountains and two massive glaciers spill icebergs into the water below!
Fun was had by all on our Alaska adventure Blind Date for Instinct Magazine.
Our wild adventures were also chronicled by cameramen Bill and Tony of Reel Gay TV.

| Out in Alaska announces "Mancations" for Gay and Lesbian travelers! |
|
“Mancations”, in which vacationers engage in fun, unabashedly male activities like fishing, outdoor sports, camping, and/or beer drinking, are one of the hottest recent trends in travel. Mancations are popular because of the mix of great activities, group camaraderie, and the relaxed non-judgmental atmosphere where guys are allowed to be themselves. Nothing beats a Mancation for some male bonding with your friends. In keeping with their inclusive philosophy, Out in Alaska’s Mancations are not necessarily all men and are open to gay men, lesbian women, and their friends. The small 6-10 person group size on an Out in Alaska adventure means that one trip could be all gay men, a mix of gay men and their straight male friends, a mix of men and women, or all women. Stallard says, “Based on my reputation in Alaska for planning and leading great wilderness trips, dozens of straight friends have asked if they can come too.” You can read the entire Press Release by clicking here or you can contact us to arrange your adventure!
