TRIP 7: Bear Lovers Katmai Adventure

Exciting bear viewing and camping adventure to Katmai National Park
These bears are big and hairy and the real thing! On this adventure to Katmai National Park we will visit the famous Brooks Falls. This is the amazing place, which you have likely seen in photos, where bears catch salmon in a waterfall. We will camp at Brooks Camp, which is protected by electric fence from all of the bears that wander about! While in Katmai, we will also hike and explore the Valley of the 10,000 smokes – the dramatic crater of Novarupta volcano. We will have time for additional hiking in the area and canoeing on Naknek Lake. Note that this trip includes the bush plane flight from King Salmon to Brooks Camp, but not the flight from Anchorage to King Salmon (cost about $300).
