TRIP 1: Iditarod and Hot Springs Adventure
February 28th – March 7th
This big adventure begins in Anchorage where we will meet the dog mushers and witness the exciting start of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Later in the trip you will get to try your own hand at mushing a team of dogs. We will ski at spectacular Alyeska Resort, which has the “best view of any US ski resort” according to Conde Nast Traveler (non-skiers/boarders will have other options). Then we venture north in search of northern lights and wilderness. From Fairbanks, we will head out to Tolovana Hot Springs, which is deep in the Alaskan wilderness. This will be an exciting and challenging 12 mile journey on foot (snowshoes) with snow mobile support (the machines will haul the food and baggage and shuttle guests if needed). We will conclude our journey in Fairbanks with the unveiling of the fabulous multi-block ice sculptures at the International Ice Art Carving Championships! Stay an extra day if you like and ski at Fairbanks Moose Mountain ski area.
