Escape to the wilds of Alaska with Out in Alaska! You will see and experience the real Alaska that most tourists miss and feel like an instant local as your guides share their favorite places, insider knowledge, and local stories with you. We will pick you up at your Anchorage lodging or downtown attractions and you will be amazed by the natural wonders we can show you in only a few hours. Our trips follow a comfortable 'exploratory pace' and the purpose is simply to be outside enjoying the wilds. Customized trips (including multi-day tours) are available to match the interests of your group.

Journey south of Anchorage to Turnagain Arm and experience the rugged Chugach Mountains as they drop dramatically into the sea. We will explore this dramatic boundary of ocean and mountains while enjoying awesome views, transition zone forests, and possible wildlife sightings.
Difficulty Level: Easy/Moderate (default), or Strenous (trail running available also)

For the ultimate one day Alaska adventure from Anchorage, we include additional exploration of the dramatic coast of Turnagain Arm and a visit to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center for up close visits with bears, moose, musk ox, eagles, and more! Hike/walk selection and pace depend upon group interest.

Head up to the high country with Out in Alaska to experience great views, mountain scenery and alpine wildflowers. The dramatic Chugach Mountains are right in Anchorage's backyard, but are truly a world away (you may find yourself singing The Sound of Music)!

Travel north of Anchorage to the Mat-Su Valley and beautiful Hatcher Pass high in the Talkeetna Mountains. We will explore the Independence Gold Mine State Historic Park and striking alpine scenery on a casual stroll, active hike, or by cross country skis or snowshoes (equipment rental additional).
Full-day: $129/person (10am to 6pm)
Anchorage is a ski town! Nordic skiing is one of the great joys for residents of our northern city. Explore the fabulous Anchorage area trails on an instructional ski tour. Lessons in Classic or skate technique available. No experience necessary. Equipment rental additional.
Half-day: $69/person (10am, 2pm)
Travel by airboat to the face of the massive Knik Glacier. We will navigate around the many icebergs that have calved off the face of the glacier and land nearby to enjoy awe inspiring views of the 28 mile long glacier surrounding Chugach Mountain peaks. This is the primeval Alaska you came to experience!

Half-day - $175 (9am or 1pm)
Sea kayaking is truly a sublime way to explore Alaska and its dramatic glacier-carved fjords. You will feel like you are one with the water as we quietly glide along the shoreline beneath towering mountains and glaciers. Keep you eyes out for sea otters, seals, bald eagles, and other wildlife.
Difficulty Level: Moderate (swimming ability required)
Full-day - $185 (7am to 10pm)
Day tours listed above include round trip transportation from most Anchorage area lodging in a winter-ready all-wheel-drive van. Minimum 24 hour advance booking required (48 hours or more required for overnight trips and recommended for day trips). Our calendar fills up fast! Call ahead for best availability.
Please bring appropriate footwear and warm clothing such as synthetic (non-cotton) layers, rain gear, etc.. We can help you prepare and loan you a rain coat and rain pants.
Payment in full with a credit card is required to reserve your adventure. Day Trips are refundable if you cancel more than 30 days in advance minus a $50/person cancellation fee. If we cancel a trip due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.

this awesome expedition is a favorite of your jaded local guides! Its amazing! Famous for its tasty salmon, the Copper River cuts 100 miles through the rugged Chugach Mountains. We raft beneath numerous waterfalls and near the end of the trip are greeted by two massive glaciers that calve icebergs into the river!
